CEAT, a leading tyre manufacturer, recently conducted Campus Compass 2011- a live case study competition among the top B-Schools in Mumbai. The event was launched on 11th November at K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research. The six participating colleges were K.J.Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research, S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, NITIE, Welingkar Institute of Management Development and SJMSOM.
The teams from these colleges were to device the best strategy for the LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) sector. 89 teams took part in the first round out of which top 5 teams were selected for the grand finale K.J.Somaiya on 30th November 2011. Every participating team had twenty minutes to present before the industry tycoons, all experts in their domains, Mr.Vinod Kumar (GM- Marketing & Specilaty, CEAT Ltd.) and Arnab Banerjee (Executive Director- Operations, CEAT Ltd.). The finalists came up with many innovative business ideas. After a rigours round of presentations and Q&A the judges were impressed with the work done by each team. The judges acknowledged the stiff competition and announced the winners for the event. The winning entry was the team from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research bagging cash amount of Rs. 50,000.
The team from K.J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research, comprising of Abhishek Dwivedi, Joy Deep Tiwary and Sandeep Tamse (2nd Year PGDM students ) beat teams from NMIMS, SP Jain, and NITIE in the final round. The team from S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research was the runner up team and won cash prize worth Rs 30,000. All in all it was an invigorating experience for all the students, faculty members and industry experts involved.
