NOSTALGIA 2011

On the evening of October 15th, 2011, K.J.Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research (SIMSR), Mumbai organized Nostalgia 2011, the annual alumni homecoming event. SIMSR has a rich alumni base spreading over 26 glorious years, and Nostalgia is an annual attempt to bring all of them together back to the place where it all began. Alumni from the very first batch of SIMSR i.e. 1985, right up till the one that graduated this year, were invited to celebrate that single part of their identities that binds them to thousands of faces across the globe, mostly unknown to them, that of once having been a SIMSR student. The turnout was great, and included many big names including Mr. Dhananjay A. Parchure (ex General Manager, Colgate Palmolive), Mr. Makarand Teje (Vice President, Capgemini), Mr. Raje Viddyesh (Associate VP, Ernst and Young) and Mr. Madhusudan Kela (Chief Investment Strategist, Reliance Capital) to name a few.
An Annual General Meeting was held amongst the management of the institute in the presence of Director General, Dr. Suresh Ghai and Director, Dr. Satish C. Ailawadi. Students had put in a great amount of dedicated effort to decorate the premises on the lines of the Nostalgia 2011 theme- i.e. ‘Journey’ – Rewind. Relive. Rejoice. With committee presentations, batch felicitation for select batches (1992, 1996 and 1997) and enticing cultural and band performances, the entire event took the form of a grand homecoming for all alumni. As the evening progressed the enthusiasm levels reached a crescendo with the dance performances that got every single member of the audience on their feet and swaying to the music. The event gave an opportunity to all the alumni to visit their alma mater and also facilitated great interaction between the SIMSR students and the industry experts. With the hard work of all, the event was a grand success.
