The new-year started with a bang with the Consultancy Committee launching Stratinnova 2011, its very own business strategy competition. Over the years, SIMSR students have debated long and hard about how to make SIMSR one of the best B-schools in India; Stratinnova 2011 offered just the stage for it! The Consultancy committee prepared a case on SIMSR through consultations with premier faculty and student bodies from the institute. An independent Tag-line competition was also announced which encouraged students to come up with innovative tag lines for SIMSR.
Cash prizes, concurrent projects and a host of other goodies awaited the winners. The prizes were sponsored by Ideal Insurance and Focus Communications.
Participating teams were asked to submit an executive summary of their strategies for SIMSR by the 30th of January. 21 teams made the deadline and their entries were evaluated on multiple criteria by a team of SIMSR faculty. The short listing process proved to be challenging and the efforts put in by the teams were evident.
Six teams qualified for the final round and their strategies were judged by an eminent panel comprising Professor C.P. Joshi, Professor Issac Jacob and Dr. Monica Khanna. Ideas and emotions flowed as Dr. Suresh Ghai shared his plans and vision for SIMSR in a candid discussion with the participants and the audience.
The competition was fierce and in the end it was Team Elixir (Bansi Madhavani and Mornee Shah, MMS) who bagged the first prize. Team Strategenius (Jeenal Chabhadia, Abhishek Goel and Chintan Saglani, MMS) won the second prize while Team Tamse (Joy Deep Tiwary, Sandeep Tamse and Arjun Kumanduri of PGDM-B) came third.
Dr Suresh Ghai asked the three winning teams to draft a joint action plan in collaboration with the faculty committee of SIMSR; the same will be implemented by the management of the institute.
The Tag-line Competition was won by Team Nascent (Sunita Chaudhary and Rashmi Sinha, MMS). Their Tagline for SIMSR:”Our Experience, Your Ambition”
We congratulate all the winners and thank the sponsors, judges, faculty, participants and the students of SIMSR for their continuing support and encouragement and for making StratInnova 2011 a grand success.
