On 8th October 2010, SIMSRites got the golden opportunity to listen to words of wisdom from one of the biggest names in the ad world. Interface, the marketing forum of K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research organized a guest lecture by Mr. Prabhakar Mundkur, CEO, Percept/H the advertising division of Percept.
Our esteemed guest has 25 years of experience in advertising having extensively worked in the Asian and African markets. Having pursued his graduation in Mathematical Economics and post graduation in Econometrics took a bold decision to choose advertising over banking as a career back in time. His portfolio includes a wide variety of products and services ranging from Unilever, Kellogg, Toyota, Nike, Air India and Sony Entertainment Television.
Mr. Mundkur shared invaluable information with the students. He gave a completely new perspective which they can implement in not just the field of branding and marketing but in many walks of life. He spoke about Archetypes a rare and interesting topic which had the audience showing keen interest. Students were given relevant information about the origin of Archetypes from Jungian Psychology. This was followed by interesting insights on various movies and the archetype the protagonists of the movie represent. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Mundkur’s sense of humor. He is a gifted speaker who can infuse interest in any topic he takes on.
The audience cleared their queries and everyone was impressed by Mr. Mundkar’s precise answers.
Apart from being among the best at his profession he is an accomplished pianist and guitarist having performed live in India and Africa. He also has many records to his credit.
The icing on the cake was a mesmerizing performance by the guest. The evening closed with the Mr. Mundkur strumming, the Beatles’ “It’s been a hard day’s work” with everyone longing for more.
This was the first guest lecture of the new trimester at SIMSR by Interface – The Marketing Forum and true to their style it ROCKED!!
